Dear Colin,
Oh to be one of those lucky Oxfam charity bidders and the person’s friend… seriously, do they really, really win a date with you to the US première of Tinker, Taylor, Soldier Spy? you brave man! I would be completely starstruck, inarticulate and behave rather blitheringly. Nice that you understand how it feels, although it is quite difficult to imagine you starstruck or even that you have your own idols? who are they by the way? I think an evening at the Chateau Marmont after the première is the perfect touch. Will you spend all your time with your dates then? I wish I could bid, but I don’t think I have lots of money to spend, I’m saving to travel. I will wish the winners the best of luck and hope they ask you all that they want to know about you. How completely wonderful. In an age where a true gentleman like you, is quite rare, there will be many trying to win that date, no, actually there will be millions trying to out bid each other… sigh.
They have this? Aaargh!
Well, money can’t buy them love!
Yes, there’s bitterness in that statement, hahaha.

Mmmmm, can you imagine that date? Tis true, no amount of money can buy love, he is doing it for charity after all… trying so hard not to envy the would-be winners haha! ha!

Sounds thrilling. Assuming I had the money to bid, I still wouldn’t because I wouldn’t know what to say. I’d stammer and blurt out something stupid. No, best to appreciate him from afar. But what a great thing he’s doing! How wonderful.
