My Obsession With All Things Potter…

Happy New Year to all my blogging mates! I am back in the world of blogging and there are many new posts brewing,  ahem! of the Colin Firth variety and er.. books of course. In the mean time I wanted to share some photos from another of my British obsessions; Harry Potter. I was in Orlando this past Christmas and as much as I would like to experience  J.K Rowling’s brilliant imagination come to life in the UK, I was happy to settle for Florida. Tell me what you think…

  1. Great photos! I got to go there soon after it opened and it was fabulous. Didn’t you just love the ride that makes you feel like you’re flying? It was a long line and a very long wait, but so worth it.

    1. Thank you!! It was sooo fabulous. We waited almost 1hr 45 mins in line and then a malfunction made us wait another 1 hr before we got on the ride. It was so exhilarating. Can you believe Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy is not playing at my local cinema? I need to find it somewhere…

Happy New Year! Wow! Great photos, Mummy! I can’t imagine what it must been like to be IN those places – was it like being in the book? Was the ride worth the 2 plus hours of waiting?

    1. It WAS fabulous Sanjee, It was like being in a part of the book, even the talking portraits were marvelous. There were these holograms of Harry, Ron and Hermione who sort of lead you towards the adventure and guide you on the ride as you race over mountains, meet with gigantic spides -eeeuww, skeletons, dragons breathing fire etc. you feel like you’re flat on your tummy and then flat on your back at one time… it is all simulated though, so imagine how fantastic it is.

I saw a preview video of Mr. Olivander’s Wand Shoppe over at the NYT website and it looked magical. I’d really like to go to this place (and on the HP tour in the UK, haha). I’m sure you and your family had a grand time. 🙂

So, how were Bertie Bott’s beans?

    1. Hi Tita, How are you feeling? we had such a great time at Island of Adventure, that part of Universal is all about Harry Potter. Hmmm, the Bertie Botts wasn’t as appealing as the chocolate frog my youngest had to get 🙂 but want to know what I really loved? it was the frozen butter beer… oh my word, deliciously divine and full of everything that is bad for you. It was a nice warm day in Orlando so the Butter Beer was perfect.
