The Best Things in Life…

Lately I have been uninspired. I have blogged in fits and starts, I have many book reviews pending, yet I can’t seem to get a coherent line in. Except for posts about Colin Firth – I would be worried if my letters to him didn’t come naturally,- nothing else flows. I read a magazine today which asked each writer what they thought were the best things in their lives and it got me thinking… what would be the best things in my life? here they are:

1. My family, best friend and close girl friends.

2.Sunrise in Florence, Italy.

3. B&W photography, shoes and comfortable pajamas

4. My books – I can’t do without them

5. Chocolate; warm, smooth and velvety to drink and very dark with hints of vanilla and orange to eat.

6. Breakfast in bed, with my girls

7. Laughter, meditation and yoga – I know it seems like three things but I laugh with my best friend every morning, that’s how I start off my day. I laugh continuously after that, um, no, I am not quite mad, the other two follow – I am Meditating Mummy after all.

8. The smell in the air after it has rained

9.Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and George Bernard Shaw for their perfect contributions to literature.

10. Stamps on my passport

Tell me about the best things in your life…

  1. Off the top of my head, the best things in my life are: my kids, my writing, my royal dog, Henry, my home which I consider a refuge from the minutia of the world, sunshine, joy and flowers, and last but not least, a good book. How’s that for starters?

    1. Fantastic Monica, I love all of yours, esp. the kids, sunshine and flowers Don’t you love a good list? I had about 20, but that would have been too long, had to settle for less 🙂

I love your list. I think I’ll list around 6 of those for me, too. 🙂
My family and friends provide me with little drama and a lot of laughter, so they really are the best parts of my life (‘family’ of course includes my dogs). Others on my list (off the top of my head, too): my happy childhood, my education, the simple but comfortable lifestyle we now lead (books and travel are a HUGE part of that), and the fact that I am free to know what I want to know and say everything that I want to say but have the wherewithal to know when to shut up, haha. 😀

    1. I love your list. It makes you think doesn’t it? I’m even more grateful for what I have. Books and travel matter to me too and I wanted to add hubby and my girls but settled for family, they know who they are 🙂 Btw, I love the word ‘wherewithal’ I’m so glad to see you use it, I feel like very few people actually use it. It’s like my other favorite words plethora and cornucopia …

This is a lovely post that got me thinking about the best things in my life.
My Husband, my children and my mother
My best friend ( i need and have only 1)
Watching Downton Abbey or any period movie in bed
    Eggs Benedict
    Laughter
Sleep – which i am able to accomplish
    Aquamarine water of the Carribean.
    Cooking for pleasure, not necessity
My Home and the mountains that surround it.

All this thinking makes me want to read one of my favorite books – 1000 things to be happy about! Thanks MM
