Book Tag – Reading Habits Tag

I love the book tag. I’ve been tagged to answer eleven questions by one of my favorite book loving people -Babus at http://ajoobacatsblog.com/ She is an avid reader like me and reviews many different genres. She has such a fantastic blog .. I hope you take a look.

Here we go then…

Do you have a certain place at home for reading? Yes. At the moment I prop my feet up on the banister, as I sit across the top of my staircase where the sun hits. When it is cold, I am in my reading chair with a blanket.

Bookmark or random piece of paper? Bookmark, um, most of the time. I have bookmarks from different parts of the world. My current favorite is of the goddess Athena, I bought it at the Acropolis Museum in Athens. Each bookmark tells a story. I have an Australian gum tree leaf in pewter and my dear friend who gave it to me is the most thoughtful person I know.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages? I prefer to stop at the end of a chapter. That way it feels complete before I begin again. Sometimes I have to stop and help with homework, projects, cook dinner etc. so if it is a book that demands to be read immediately, I sneak away to finish it.

Do you eat or drink while reading? No drinks when I read. I eat chocolate while my book is on the counter and I’m not touching it. I am mortally afraid of getting food or drink on my books. Once, I got chocolate on a precious book and I wowed to never eat chocolate again. That lasted all of a minute. I am super careful.

Multitasking: Music or TV while reading? Neither. I need peace and quiet.

One book at a time or several at once? I usually have three books going at once. One serious, one light and one in-between. Sometimes they are all serious and I go into silent mode because I need to hold on to the stories for a bit.

Reading at home or everywhere? I prefer home.  I do read when parked at the school pick-up line and sometimes at Starbucks with my ear phones on. It’s more of a distraction at Starbucks though.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?  Oh definitely in my head. The unabashedly loud conversations I have with some characters have to stay there. I do gasp in horror or giggle with glee every now and then, not realizing my kids or husband have heard me.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages? I never read ahead. I stay. I savor.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?   breaking the spine would break my heart. It happened with one of my Harry Potter books when my daughter did it accidentally. I cried. Oh my gosh, I’m so weird aren’t I?

Do you write in your books? Absolutely not.

I now tag some of my favorite book lovers to answer these questions, Um, only if they would like to of course.

I love to read. My answers will be a bit different than those here. I am a procrastinator so it might take me awhile to do this.
What are my plans for the weekend? Danny’s off. While he is in the computer room……I plan on watching a Marathon of Cedar Cove . Season 1. It’s the only one NETFIX has out so far.
I have waited and waited to watch this series.
I read all of Debbie Macomber’s books when they first came out years ago. I love the actors in the series. Especially, Bruce Boxleitner.
Only problem: Before I start, we NEED food in the house.

    1. Perfect. The more different the better.
I have heard a lot of good stuff about Cedar Cove. Oh my gosh, I remember Bruce Boxleitner. he was pretty darn cute. I will have to add it to my list.
Ah! food. I’ve got a lot of cooking to do this weekend.

  3. I never skip ahead either!!!! Though I need to put the computer down and pick up more books. Sigh, then I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the blog writers. Dilemma!

    1. It is a dilemma Colleen. I feel like I never keep up with all the blogs. I want to reply all but then I can’t write or be with my kids. I try though. I really try. I love the support I get and want to give it as much as I can.

      1. Constant dilemma MM. I have recently on occasion even turned off the comments on some of my posts so I can go to other blogs and read. Half the time when I do read I only have time to “like” them or I wouldn’t be able to read others. I think most everyone understands this but it still makes me feel bad too.

  5. Oh dear, how did I miss this, I haven’t a clue. And you never said anything about me being rude or anything. An ingrate, after you tagged me so sweetly! I’m so sorry, MM. I blame Comic Con and being in the throes of it when you posted this. I will respond soon. I’ve never heard of this book tag but I love the idea of it, and loved your answers. I think you and I are in sync when it comes to our reading habits. But then, would you expect any less? I think not!

    1. I think we’re in sync about a lot of things Monica, I can’t wait to see your answers.

Posting, commenting, and just finding the time to write is so difficult. I knew you had a lot going on, work, Comic Con – um, I still can’t believe you got to see Sam – and life in general.
Tell me, did you ever catch Poldark? you know a post is coming. I loved that show and well, I have the book but the show began before I could finish the book. I will go back and read it. I have lots to say …
